Cattle enrolled in the AngusSource program are identified with a tamper-evident visual
program tag (visual tag required). This tag is printed with a unique animal number,
AngusSource Lot ID (state of origin, lot number and customer code) and an in-herd management
number (optional). One tag is issued for each calf enrolled.
Replacement tags are available to qualifying producers.

Producers have four options for tags:
|
Visual program tags are available for $1 each.
If producers wish to purchase radio frequency (RF) IDs, they may order
"matched-pair sets" consisting of an RFID and visual ID with the same 15 digit unique
animal number. These tags cost $3.25/set.
"840" tag options are also available. The "840" tag is an official ear
tag that can be used for all regulatory programs such as interstate commerce,
disease control programs, etc. The U.S. shield is printed on the front and back of
the tag. "Unlawful to remove" is printed on the back and an "840" number will
replace the traditional "982" and "USA" numbering schemes on the original
program tags. If you would like to utilize "840" tags you must have registered
your premise. There is an additional $10 processing fee for "840" tag orders
and tag numbers allocated to you will be uploaded to the National Animal
Identification System (NAIS) database. The visual "840" is available for
$1/head and a matched-pair RFID tag is available for $3.25/head.
|
"840" tag is available as a visual only or as an RFID Matched-pair set
|
|
If less than 10 head are enrolled a $10 processing fee will be applied to
visual tag orders and a $15 processing fee will be applied to RFID-matched pair tag orders.
|
|
Only the visual program tag is required. Both options offer laser-ink printing, tag shipping,
and the ability to participate
in AngusSource marketing opportunities (special sales, AngusSource cattle listing, etc.).
